Black sunflower seeds are suitable for many animals and are a great source of energy, protein and healthy fats. The healthy fats improve coat and skin condition as well as assist in maintaining energy levels and contribute to maintaining weight and weight gain. 

Black sunflower can be feed to:

Grey striped Sunflower vs. Black Sunflower

Grey striped sunflower is more commonly seen in domestic bird seeds and as human snack due to the lower oil/fat content. Domestic birds tend to have a higher rate of obesity as a result grey is a better option.

Black sunflower is more commonly used in wild bird seed mixes as well as poultry, horses and livestock feeds due to the higher oil/fat content.  These animals have higher energy requirements and generally need the fats to produce ie meat, eggs or breeding.
